Jonathan grew up in Pennsylvania where he enjoyed, among other things, hiking, bird watching, and drawing the landscape. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Messiah College he moved to New York City in 2003 to attend graduate school at the School of Visual Arts. He now lives and works in an apartment near Central Park where he enjoys, among many other things, hiking, bird watching, and drawing the landscape.

Jonathan has worked for The New York Times, Cricket Magazine, Scholastic, Simon and Schuster, Henry Holt, Bloomsbury and Farrar, Straus and Giroux which will publish At Night, the first picture book he both wrote and illustrated, in Fall 2007.
